Throughout each week, we have programs for kids of all ages. Kids' programs meet in the downstairs meeting room unless announced otherwise. Always check our social media for the latest updates!
Preschool Storytime
When: Wednesdays @ 10:30 AM
Who: Children 0-5 years and their caregivers
What: Stories, crafts, music, and games. Storytime is a chance for toddlers and preschoolers to make friends and develop early literacy skills. We sing, dance, read, color, and more.
In 2024, the library will continue to partner with the Estill County Extension Office to bring you Laugh & Learn, a special program designed by the University of Kentucky to provide extra fun and learning opportunities. Laugh & Learn playdates will take place at the normal storytime hour on the fourth Wednesday of each month.
Library Explorers
When: Tuesdays @ 4:00 PM
Who: Children 5-8 years and their caregivers
What: Storytime for big kids. The stories, games, and crafts at Library Explorers help kids explore their world by going in-depth on topics of science, art, language, and more. Kids can do these activities independently of their caregivers, but it's always fun when grown-ups join in as well.
LEGO Club
When: Thursdays @ 4:00 PM
Who: Children 4+ and their caregivers
What: Come and build with us! We have a big collection of LEGOs for all kids to express their creativity and develop engineering skills. LEGO Club members' projects are on display in the library throughout the following week.
Kids' Yoga
When: Fridays @ 4:00 PM
Who: Children 4+ years and their caregivers
What: We stream yoga videos from the Cosmic Kids YouTube Channel. These videos combine real yoga poses with kid-friendly narratives for an engaging adventure - and a good workout! The target audience of the YouTube channel is about 4-6 years of age, so older kids may find the stories a little cheesy, but all ages can benefit from the exercise.
Saturday Playtime
When: Second Saturday of each month @ 10:00 AM
Who: Families with kids of all ages
What: Drop in for seasonal crafts, toys & games!
A Note on Age-Appropriate Programming
Age ranges are provided for each program to give you an idea of who else might attend the program and what levels of skill and knowledge will be involved in the activities. We want each program to be as fun, educational, and safe as possible. Alternate activities will be available for older and younger siblings. We trust caregivers to judge what is the best fit for their child. You can always reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns.
Can't make it to our in-person programs? You can visit the virtual storytime room anytime!
